Semiconductor Supply Watch: What Buyers Should Monitor This Week
Global chip demand remains strong while memory and PCB-related supply signals require early BOM review, supplier checks and lead-time planning.

This week’s electronics supply picture remains focused on three practical buying issues: sustained semiconductor demand, higher memory-related cost pressure, and potential PCB material disruption. For procurement teams, the main takeaway is not to wait until production is urgent before checking BOM availability.
Industry data continues to show strong semiconductor demand. The Semiconductor Industry Association reported record 2025 global semiconductor sales and projected the market could move toward roughly $1 trillion in 2026. Strong demand does not automatically mean every part is short, but it does mean buyers should confirm availability and lead time earlier in the purchasing cycle.
Memory remains a key watch area. TrendForce has highlighted that AI server demand is redirecting DRAM and NAND capacity toward enterprise and server applications, supporting continued contract price increases. Buyers using memory, storage, industrial control boards or AI-related hardware should check lead time and price validity carefully before finalizing production plans.
PCB-related inputs also deserve attention. Recent reporting on PCB supply chain disruption shows how upstream materials can quickly affect electronics manufacturing costs. Even when the IC itself is available, the final board build may still be affected by laminate, copper foil, logistics or assembly constraints.
For JZP Components customers, the recommended action is simple: send the BOM early, confirm exact package and brand requirements, identify which lines are critical, and prepare acceptable alternatives where possible. Early RFQ review helps reduce the risk of last-minute shortages, quotation delays and shipping pressure.
